The Countdown
A while ago, I met the owner of a small company in the #KSA. Lets call him Faisal. Faisal didn’t need convincing. He had read everything. He had seen the demos. Within ten minutes of our first conversation, he was already imagining AI in his sales, his accounting, his customer replies. Everywhere, he said. I want it everywhere.
I left that meeting smiling. Its rare to meet that kind of energy.
The Ignition
The first weeks were exactly what you hope for. Messages answered within minutes. Ideas flying. Faisal even introduced us to his team himself, with a speech about the new chapter of the company. Everything was ready. The countdown was running.
The Silence
Then we reached the part of the project where someone has to decide. Which process changes first? Who owns the result? Who tells the team that Monday will look different? And Faisal went quiet. No argument. No we changed our mind. Just a reply that took two days, then a week, then a polite lets catch up soon that never turned into a date. The man who wanted AI everywhere had slipped out of the room, as if it was the countdown he loved, not the launch.
What I Understood
I used to take this personally. I don’t anymore, because it isn’t about us, and it isn’t about Faisal. Starting an AI #project feels like a #vision. Running one feels like a #responsibility. The first asks for #enthusiasm. The second asks for #decisions, and in a small company, every decision lands on the same desk: the owners. There is no committee to share the weight, and no department to blame if it goes wrong. Hesitation, in that moment, isnt a lack of ambition. Its a person doing the math on what happens if it fails in front of his team, his clients, his reputation.
The Numbers
Tell the Same Story The will is real across the Kingdom. According to the #General_Authority_for_Statistics 2025 survey, AI adoption among Saudi businesses rose to 33.1 % in 2025, up from 27.6 % in 2024. A year to remember, and yet two out of three businesses are still standing at the edge. #BCGs study of #Gulf organizations points to why. #People, organization and process issues are the primary barriers to AI adoption, at 70 % overall. The technology is rarely what stops a project. The first decision is.
The Way Forward
So what do I say to the next Faisal? Don’t start with everywhere. Start with one process, one small team, one result you can measure in thirty days. Decide who is accountable before the first line of work begins. And if it doesn’t work, you’ve learned something cheap, instead of something public. Courage isn’t pressing the big red button. Its pressing a small one, and then another.
Lets Press It Together
That’s what we do at #Xperts⁴_Tech: we don’t just count down with you, we walk with you through the launch, decision by decision, until the project is yours.
Ready to press the button? Lets talk.
