JOB SUMMARY:
The General Manager will oversee the overall management and operation of our client’s internet service provider and VSAT services in South Sudan.
This role requires a results-driven leader with a strong background in telecommunications, extensive experience in operational management, and a strategic focus on driving revenue growth through effective sales leadership.
He / She will lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence, ensure customer satisfaction, and meet business objectives while growing market share.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The General Manager is held accountable for the job responsibilities below:
Operational Leadership
• Oversee daily operations to ensure reliable service delivery and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Implement processes to enhance operational efficiency and manage resources to optimize profitability.
• Ensure a strong customer service approach, addressing client needs and service issues effectively.
Strategic Sales and Business Development
• Develop and execute sales strategies to grow the customer base and increase revenue.
• Identify new market opportunities and establish partnerships to expand the company’s footprint.
• Manage and mentor the sales team to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
• Build and maintain relationships with key clients, negotiating high-value contracts and agreements.
Financial Management
• Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring cost control and efficient use of resources.
• Monitor financial performance and prepare regular reports for senior management, analyzing key financial metrics and operational KPIs.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and align financial goals with business strategy.
Team Leadership and Development
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture.
• Set clear goals for all departments, track progress, and address performance issues as needed.
• Ensure training and professional development programs to support staff growth and expertise.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to all local and international regulations relevant to internet and VSAT operations.
• Develop policies and procedures to mitigate risk and uphold data security and customer privacy.
• Represent the company in regulatory discussions, maintaining a strong network with relevant authorities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in a managerial role within the telecommunications or internet service provider sector, with a strong focus on sales and business growth.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and executing sales strategies, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
• Strong knowledge of satellite communications, wireless communications and internet services.
• Proficiency in financial management, budget planning, and performance analysis.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and drive a team to achieve business objectives.
• Fluency in English.
REPORTING & REPLACEMENT
The General Manager will be reporting to the Regional Director – Africa Operations.
In case of absence, the position holder can be replaced by the Country Manager.
