About the Company:
Our client is an early-stage, well-funded startup developing a digital financial platform aimed at empowering individuals in emerging markets. The platform enables users to securely manage their own assets and access yield-generating opportunities without relying on intermediaries. It combines a streamlined Web2 interface with an embedded MPC wallet and an account abstraction layer, in partnership with a Web3 infrastructure provider.
About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to influence both the technology foundation and engineering culture of the company. The selected candidate will take end-to-end ownership of product development—writing the initial code, integrating a third-party MPC wallet, and delivering the MVP. Working closely with integration partners and technical advisors, they will help transform the product vision into a secure, scalable platform and go on to build and mentor the engineering team that will support its continued growth.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
● Full stack build out of the company’s Web2 application (front end, back end, DevOps) from scratch.
● Collaborate closely with the company’s Technical Advisors (acting as interim CTO) to contribute to the definition of the product architecture and handle the development of architecture-compatible technical solutions in the development of the production grade product.
● Progressively take ownership of technical design activities starting with low-level software solutions and moving to higher level product architecture decisions.
● Design and handle the integration of third-party technical services, most notably from Web3 services providers.
● Ensure third-party organizations comply with agreement terms most notably SLAs.
● Implement technical solutions and processes (e.g. incident monitoring and response) required by third-party cybersecurity providers to ensure the security of the platform.
● Setup cloud infrastructure (preferably on AWS) using modern CI/CD tools.
● Handle the development of monitoring solutions and procedures (e.g.logging, observability metrics) to ensure efficient support of the platform in production.
● Collaborate with the product owner in the delivery of product features.
● Document architecture decisions and establish coding standards to prepare for rapid team growth.
● Recruit, onboard, and mentor junior engineers over time, building a high performance engineering culture.
● Guide future wallet provider strategy, evaluating redundancy or alternative custody solutions as the product scales.
Must‐Have Qualifications:
● 5+ years professional software engineering, including 2+ years in a lead or architect role.
● Proven production experience with modern web stacks (e.g., React/Next/Vue + NodeJavascript/Java/Python based web APIs)
● Meaningful Web3 exposure (wallets, key management, or blockchain integrations). Zero Web3 exposure is a deal‐breaker.
● Proven track record integrating 3rd‐party SDKs/APIs and building secure auth flows.
● Experience in one or more agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
● Experience in setting up and monitoring cloud infrastructure on AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP
● Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and hands‐on execution.
Nice‐to‐Have:
● Prior work with decentralized wallets or DeFi.
● Experience in regulated consumer‐fintech or payments.
● Proven ability to scale cloud infrastructure to thousands of daily users.
